VBS Day 2


Today we had a wonderful breakfast at Pastor’s home. We are so blessed to have a family that willingly and joyfully feeds us body and soul. 

It was another hot day. We walked around the neighborhoods and met with a couple of people who were not only willing to bring their children, but offered to help spread the word of our VBS program! Thanks to those folks we increased the number of children who attended today to 28! To God be the glory!!!!💕

Now that we have a better handle on the general ages of the children, we were better able to adapt our program so that we could provide the best experience possible for them to learn about Jesus.

The kids loved the lesson.

 The music was spot on!

The host Pastor Roldán was so great talking with the kids, telling them what the colors of the strings on their muñecas (dolls) meant. (Mini Spanish lesson lol!) We also passed out the information for the colors to the parents and grandparents. Even though the event is meant for the kids, really they are the seeds that are meant to bring the entire family to church. It was so good to see several adults watching the events and conversing with Pastor Roldán. They are thirsty for God’s word. 

The little children are so lively and fun, we couldn’t help but love each and every one of them.  We were sweaty and tired, but in a good way. 

This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it! Amen!!!💕💕💕💕💕

Last thought. Missionary Pastor Micah has been so helpful and as he moves on in his journey to bring the love of Jesus to others, please pray for his continued safety.

Lamanai or Bust!

Today was our cultural excursion to Lamanai National Park to visit the Mayan ruins. We took a very short ride from the hotel and were brought to a resort with boat launches on the river.  Sadly, this is where Dave and Nate had to leave in order to make it to the airport. Roldán was kind enough to take them. Farewell and blessings for a safe journey home! This is the boat we took up the river. Our guide told us that this river is one of only two in the world that flow from south to north. The boat ride took just over an hour in the blazing sun. Thankfully the driver was a speedster so we had a fun and breezy ride!  As we traveled up the river, our tour guide, Hermanio, talked to us about the wildlife, the history of his ancestors (he is an indigenous Mayan descendant) including an ancient Mayan sport named pok ta pok that is still played in competition to this day!  A jade religious artifact.  Stringray barb used to draw blood fr a female chief for sacrificial offerin...

Day 4 Last Day of VBS

 This week is just speeding by! It is already the fourth and last day of VBS. We have been blessed with an awesome team! Our team shout is appropriate “Yay God”!   The team was able to do a little bit of shopping before the afternoon VBS session. Of course, there was ice cream involved!  And…Froot Loops?  We were fascinated that eggs were sold in bags lol! We had 33 children come to this brand new little church today, along with several parents and grandparents. The joy from the children’s and adults’ laughter was a beautiful thing. It was definitely medicine for our souls! The children had lots of opportunity to hear God’s word while playing, singing and with the lesson and skit.    We even had a budding guitarist in our midst. Day 3 Go Team!👏

Hello everyone! Today was day three of VBS. After breakfast we went shopping for snacks and souvenirs at a large grocery store, then had lunch at Pastor’s home. The food has been very tasty and nourishing. We will all most likely be a few pounds heavier by the time we go home!  After lunch, Pastor Roldán cut branches from his palm tree for our children’s reenactment of Jesus’ walk into Jerusalem. Today was our fun and casual shirt day. Pastor Mark’s shirt was very fashionably adorned with flamingos . Today we had several older children come to VBS. They played catch with the football outside as we were receiving other kids. There are already some pretty good throwing arms😊 Some members of our team were doing last minute quality checks on the equipment.  Dean made sure the crayons were not too melty (heat index over 100 degrees and no breeze) Just kidding, Dean!
